Is It Right For Me?
Is telehealth right for me?
May be a good fit if you
- Have a phone, tablet or computer with a camera, and reliable internet
- Have a private, quiet place to talk
- Find it hard to travel, or want to fit care around work or family
In person may be better if
- Your internet is unreliable, or technical problems keep interrupting
- Others nearby could overhear you
- You're not comfortable on camera at home
Kids at home?
Plan for a room with a door, or a time when another adult can watch the children. Headphones help keep your conversation private.
Privacy: Paramount Health and Wellness uses HIPAA-compliant telehealth for psychiatric evaluations.

FAQ
Telehealth Questions, Answered
Have a question that isn’t here? Call our front desk and we’ll help: (757) 809-7807.
Can I see a mental health provider by video in Virginia?
Yes. Paramount Health and Wellness offers secure video visits for mental health care to patients anywhere in Virginia, with Dr. Relindis Nsofon Mutia, a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. TRICARE, Medicare and Virginia Medicaid are accepted. You need to be physically in Virginia during your visit.
What do I need for a telehealth appointment?
You’ll need a phone, tablet or computer with a camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection and a private, quiet space. Have your insurance card, photo ID and a list of your medications ready. Open your visit link a few minutes early to check that your camera and sound work.
Is telehealth as good as in-person mental health care?
Research shows telemental health can treat conditions including anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression and PTSD. It works best when you have reliable internet and a private space. If video isn’t a good fit, Paramount Health and Wellness also offers in-person visits in Portsmouth, Monday through Saturday.
Can I have a video visit while my kids are home?
Yes, if you can find a private spot. Choose a room with a door or a time when another adult can watch the children, and use headphones so your conversation stays private. If privacy at home is hard, an in-person visit at Paramount Health and Wellness in Portsmouth may be easier.
Do I have to be in Virginia during my video visit?
Yes. Under Virginia’s telemedicine guidance, care happens where the patient is located, so you need to be physically in Virginia during your visit. If you’ll be traveling out of state, reschedule or plan an in-person visit at Paramount Health and Wellness in Portsmouth.
Does TRICARE cover telehealth mental health care?
Yes. TRICARE covers virtual mental health visits by secure video, with the same referral and pre-authorization rules as in-person care and similar costs. Text-only visits aren’t covered, and active duty service members need a referral for all virtual visits. Paramount Health and Wellness accepts TRICARE and checks your benefits.
Does Medicare cover telehealth mental health care?
Yes. Through December 31, 2027, Medicare covers telehealth from anywhere in the U.S., including your home, including outpatient psychotherapy. You usually pay the same as an in-person visit: 20% of the Medicare-approved amount after the Part B deductible. Paramount Health and Wellness accepts Medicare and Medicare Advantage.
Can I get a prescription from a video visit?
Medication questions are part of your care, and your provider decides whether an in-person visit is needed before any prescription. Ask about this when you book. Paramount Health and Wellness offers in-person visits in Portsmouth, Monday through Saturday, whenever an office visit is the better choice.
What if my video link doesn't arrive?
Call (757) 809-7807 so the front desk can help you connect or reschedule. Check your email and text messages, including spam folders, and make sure the phone number and email on file are correct when you book. Paramount Health and Wellness is open Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
Can I use telehealth in a mental health crisis?
No. Telehealth visits are scheduled appointments, not emergency care. If you’re in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988, the free and confidential Suicide and Crisis Lifeline; veterans and service members can press 1. In an emergency, call 911.
